For the exhibition, OKO was asked to create a site-specific mural in the entrance of the ECB7s aria, which culminated in four feathered creatures amid a background of red carnations. Inherited from the Latin meaning “flowers of the gods”, carnations are thought to be one of the eldest cultivated flowers in the world. For the artist, the symbolism of carnations coupled with that of birds provides the site with a meaningful backdrop trough which to explore the future of European nations.
